If the property is here and you are not
A large part of our work is for owners who live in another country. These are the four things they ask first.
- Who lets you into the property when I am not in the country?
- Whoever you nominate: a neighbour, a relative, someone in the village who holds a key. We agree it before the day, not on it. On many jobs only the yard is open and the house is never entered at all, which is often all that is needed.
- Do I need to be there at all?
- No. Most of our work on inherited and second properties happens with the owner somewhere else entirely. You confirm the scope in writing, we do the work on the agreed day, and you see the result in photographs.
- Will you send me photos before and after?
- Yes, on every job, and from the same positions so the two are comparable. For an owner two thousand kilometres away that is the only honest evidence of what was done, so it is part of the work rather than something extra.
- How do I pay from abroad?
- We agree how before we start, and you pay after the work is finished, never in advance. Tell us which country you are paying from and we will suggest the least awkward route.
How the price is worked out
What the job actually involves sets the price: the area, the access, how overgrown it is and how many trips it takes to haul the material away. A one-off clearance is paid for once. For regular upkeep we set up a monthly arrangement.
